Apparently that is my favorite quote and I have told myself it at least 112 times---one hundred twelve times...ciento dose. #noregrets Not all lipsticks are created equal and not all colors are flattering on every skin tone. Let's explore...
Traditional...mehThese are what everyone knows to be lipstick. They are found in tubes that roll-up and offer a variety of finishes-matte, demi-matte and satin. More info on lipstick finishes can be found here. (Let's be honest if you are here, you know what lipstick is and probably own a few so I won't bore you with the details)
Once upon a time, I owned many more traditional lipsticks but i didn't find them to be my jam. I like to apply my makeup and be finished for the day---I am not the type to re-touch up anything. After exploring my collection, I found that I only own 4 of these types of lipsticks and 75% of those are from the limited edition Selena x Mac collection. The other is a HudaBeauty one (more on the brand later) that was on sale and I purchased in the shade Pay Day.

Liquid lipstick...my all time favorite
I. LOVE. LIQUID. LIPSTICKS. Most liquid lipsticks have a matte finish and dry down within seconds after applying and take some effort to remove.
I vividly remember the first time I tried a liquid lipstick; it was LUV by KVD Vegan Beauty (formerly Kat Von D beauty) and I was #obsessed. The formula stayed on all day and did not need ANY touching up even after drinking and eating. How can you beat that? Tuh, you can't.
Moving along...the application on a lipstick is a tool. Use the applicator to line your lips lips to create a fuller pout. In the picture below, there is no concealer or liner used to achieve the look.
Random fact: The undertone of a lipstick can make your smile appear whiter, go for a blue-based lipstick to make those pearly whites shine.

The formula of these is perfection! Lipsticks that fall into this category can be very drying BUT not this one. It is nourishing, smells amazing and last all day. #allhailHuda (You can also try some shades in a mini form if you're not wanting to commit). HudaBeauty also makes a Demi-Matte Cream lipstick for when you want the shine of a gloss but the staying power of a liquid lipstick. Def check those out if you find yourself not a huge fan of the matte lip AND their names are super cute!

Like I said earlier, KVD will always hold a special place in my heart with liquid lipsticks and my journey into #allthingsbeauty This formula is super comfortable and they have a HUGE range of shade choices (and cute minis) --the lighter shades do have some streaking which is why they recieved runner-up. Sighs...
Favorite shades: LUV, Susperia, Lolita, Mother, Sante Sangre, Nahz Fur Atoo, Bauhau5, Vampira
The color payoff on these is amazing and they offer a huge range along with different finishes. My only qualm is that the applicator does not allow for a precise application. Def worth a shot if you want to order a bundle with a variety of finishes.

The brand ranked third because of their limited range of variety and consistency. For example: Lady Balls is the perfect red for everyone due to it having the perfect undertone and color payoff but other colors are splotchy and do not perform as well.
Favorite shades: Lady Balls, It's Happening, Unicorn
This formula is just so drying, in my opinion! It dries too fast which allows minimum time for mistakes and separates throughout the day. I own 1 lipstick from this collection and it was a gift---#enoughsaid
